About Montezuma

Montezuma remains one of the most popular destinations on the Costa Rican Pacific coast, and visitors are compelled to stay several days to enjoy the beaches, waterfalls, nature reserves like Cabo Blanco National Park and Curù wildlife reserve, as well as nearby islands like Tortuga which is the best known in the area.

Schedule

Please arrive on Sunday, April 15th in time to check in and have dinner as a group at 7 pm. Monday through Friday we will have two sessions per day with plenty of time in between for exploration, lounging by the sea or the pool, or for participating in an organized tour. Saturday, April 21 (departure day) breakfast is provided before leaving Montezuma.

Email Keith with questions or to register.

Getting There

By Air: Please arrange an early flight to the San Jose International Airport. It is a full day of travel if you are planning to arrive directly from North America. The earlier the flight the easier it will be keep your travel to one day. Often, you will find the best value with TACA Airlines but many of the U.S-based carriers have daily flights to San Jose. It is possible to fly directly from San Jose to Playa Tambor (a short drive from Montezuma), leaving from the international airport, with Sansa or TravelAir airlines.

*If you are traveling to Montezuma directly from North America, this is your best option.*

Ground: If you are traveling from other locations in Costa Rica, it is possible to travel by bus to Puntarenas (2 hrs from San Jose). In Puntarenas you will connect with one of the three ferries bound for Paquera (1.5 hrs). From Paquera there is a bus that drops you in the center of Montezuma.

*If you choose to travel by ground make sure you purchase and consult a guide book

(I suggest the Lonely Planet Guide for Costa Rica).*
