mantra - asana - devotion

mantra - derived from the ancient Vedic word manas, representing the mind, and tra meaning “instrumentality”. We chant the mantra, not only to invoke the power of the instrument contained in its specific words and vibrations but also to unlock, deepen, fuel the breath for the physical and spiritual practice.

asana - the third limb of Ashtanga Yoga, the Eight-Limbed Path. From the root as (meaning “to sit” also “to be”). Asana means to sit and be. Often translated as yoga posture. Through the physical practice we strengthen the body, especially the muscles of the back in preparation for meditation. It is only with a strong and pliable body that we will eventually sit and be.

devotion - the second limb of Ashtanga Yoga, is Niyama consisting of five inner practices to follow in maintaining correct moral practices. The final niyama is Ishvara Pranidhana which means surrender to the Divine. In this surrender it is possible to be devoted, release the ego, and approach the wonder of life with awe and gratitude, seeing the presence of the Divine all around you.
